1. How can I find open positions?

Some jobs are here on our Web site, others are listed at https://secure.utah.gov/jobbank/index.html.

2. Who can apply?

Anyone eligible to work in the United States and who meets the minimum job requirements as stated in the job posting or job announcements.

3. How do I apply?

We accept applications online, in-person, via mail, e-mail or fax. A completed American Fork application form must accompany each application.

This form is automatically completed when you apply through our online application. If you cannot compete this application process online, you may obtain an application form by coming into our office, calling us at (801) 763-3000.

Only applications received by the final closing date and time will be considered. Postmarks are not accepted.

4. Do you accept applications for positions that aren't currently open?

No. We only accept applications for positions which are currently open for recruitment.

5. Should I include a resume?

Yes, you are welcome to submit a resume with your application, but it will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application.

You can access a complete job description for each American Fork City position via our online job descriptions. You can also obtain a paper copy of job descriptions for open jobs by coming into our office. These job descriptions explain the duties as well as the required skills and abilities for each position. 6. How many jobs can I apply for? Do I need more than one application?

There is currently no limit to the number of jobs you can apply for with American Fork City. The selection process is competitive so it is in your best interest to apply only for those positions you are most qualified.

You must submit a separate application for each position you would like to apply for.

7. Do you keep my application on file?

We do keep applications on file for two years for record keeping purposes. An application that is submitted for a certain position will not automatically be resubmitted if the same position opens up again in the future. To resubmit an application, you will need to call or visit our office.

8. What benefits does the City offer?

American Fork City strives to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce.

I. Retirement: American Fork City pays 17.95 percent of gross pay into a retirement plan for each employee (19.95 percent for Police Officers). American Fork City participates in the Utah State Retirement System. Employees may choose to participate in a 401(k).

II. Health Insurance: All full-time employees are offered Select Med Health Insurance. The City pays a majority of the premium.

III. Dental Insurance: All full-time employees are offered Metlife Dental Insurance. The City pays the employee’s coverage and the employee can elect to pay for family coverage.

IV. The City offers basic life insurance and allows purchase of supplemental life insurance.

V. Paid vacation is offered depending on job and hours worked.

VI. Eligible full-time employees are offered 12 paid holidays.

VII. Eligible employees are offered paid Sick Leave, Sick Leave Buy Back and Long-Term Disability Insurance:

9. Are all employees eligible for benefits?

Full-time employees are eligible for benefits. Employees classified as seasonal or part-time are not eligible for benefits. Please refer to the benefits page for more information.
