*** Update: Unless there is a compelling reason otherwise, only residents living close to the river will be eligible for sandbags. We will continue to provide them for free to those in need but we are being more restrictive because we have had a significant number of sandbags going to homes not at risk of flooding or remotely close to the river. We just want to ensure we are being good stewards for these resources and ensuring they go to where it is most needed, and are available when they are most needed.***
American Fork City is providing free sand and bags that residents can fill to use as needed. Empty bags can be picked up at the Public Works administration building at 275 E 200 N. Sand filling will be available each Monday - Thursday, from 7am -5:30pm. Bring your own shovel and take only what you need, with a limit of 25 bags per household. If you need more information, contact Public Work directly at 801-763-3060. We will monitor the sand supply and replenish as needed. We may expand the hours based upon demand. Please do not to block the entrance to the sand pile area.
How to fill a sandbag:
1. Grab a bag, shovel and some gloves.
2. Fill the bag 1/2- 3/4 full; bags should be 30-40lbs when filled.
3. Tie bag at the top so it will lay flat.
