Kids, ages 3-5, should enroll in a pre-school swimming classes. Students are taught the same skills as in the Basic Level 1 through 3 courses, but on a smaller scale to accommodate the learning ability of younger kids.


These classes are for parents and their children, ages 6 months to 3 years. In these classes, they sing songs, introduce children to the water, blow bubbles and build an aquatic foundation of comfort in and around the water. It is required that a person 15 years or older enter the water with the infant/toddler. Make-up lessons will be provided at the fitness center's discretion and will only be held on Fridays if decided. The center is not responsible for inclement weather. Refunds/credits will not be issued for weather problems.


Kids who are 6 and older should enroll in Levels 1-6, depending on their skill set. Select a level to read more about what skills are taught.

  • Enter water using ladder, steps or side 
  • Exit water using ladder, steps or side 
  • Blowing Bubbles, 3 sec. 
  • Bobbing, 3 times 
  • Open eyes under water, retrieve object 2 times (shallow water) 
  • Front glide, 2 body lengths 
  • Recover from a front glide to a stand 
  • Back glide, 2 body lengths 
  • Back float, 3 sec. 
  • Recover from a back float or glide to a stand 
  • Roll from front to back 
  • Roll from back to front
  • Treading using arm and hand actions (chest-deep water)
