About the Learning Center The Learning Center provides one-on-one reading tutoring and homework help to 2nd grade-12th grade students throughout the community. The tutoring is provided as a public service from the city, as an ongoing part of the community’s commitment to enhance basic literacy skills of all our citizens.
The Learning Center reading tutors are community volunteers trained to assist students improve their reading skills. The Learning Center is frequently referred to by various state officials as a “model for community-based literacy programs in the state of Utah.”
The Learning Center will help students with homework in math, science, history, reading, social studies, art, and other areas.
Students have access to computers, reference materials, calculators, supplies, and grade-level reading materials to accomplish homework, projects, and other school assignments.
Locating the Center The easiest way to find the center is to take the elevator, adjacent to the front desk in the library, to the basement and turn left.
Learning Center Rules To participate in the services offered by the Learning Center, students must be enrolled in 2nd grade or higher. Students and parents must be respectful of staff and other students. Students are required to show up on time to all scheduled appointments and to leave the Learning Center when their appointment is over.
English Classes The Learning Center offers an evening English class taught 2 times a week by trained and qualified instructors. These classes are also provided at no cost to participants and meet Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. For more information please contact the center.
